We're a small independent meadery and distillery in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri.
Downstairs is where the spirits are made. Upstairs is where they disappear.
We make whiskey, bourbon, flavored spirits and mead right here, then use them to build cocktails you probably aren't going to find at the bar down the street. Learn more about our distillery and our meadery.
Some people come in because they love whiskey. Some come because they've never tried mead. Some just want a good cocktail and somewhere different to hang out.
All of those are perfectly acceptable reasons.

Don't overthink it.
Walk in, grab a seat and tell us what you normally drink. Whiskey drinker? Great. Sweet drinks? We've got you. Never had mead before? Even better.
We'll help you find something.
You don't need to know anything about whiskey or mead before you walk through the door. There's no tasting-room test and nobody is going to judge you for ordering something sweet.
We're here to make drinks, not make drinking complicated.

This isn't a bar that happens to have our name on the wall.
Burnt Barrel is a working distillery.
We make and age spirits right here in Lake Saint Louis, including whiskey and bourbon, along with limited releases and some less traditional barrel finishes when we feel like experimenting.
And yes, we still make and serve mead.
Mead is actually where Burnt Barrel started, so even as the distillery side of the business has grown, it's still part of who we are.

You'll usually find house cocktails, whiskey, mead, rotating drinks, slushies and whatever else seemed like a good idea when we made the menu.
Some things stick around. Some disappear. Some probably shouldn't have worked nearly as well as they did.

We keep food available at the tasting room, including easy-to-share options that work especially well with a few drinks.

Burnt Barrel isn't meant to be a room where everybody quietly stares at their drink.
We host DJ Trivia every Thursday night along with tastings, pairing dinners, specialty events, bottle releases and whatever other ideas we decide to try.
Some nights are busy. Some are laid back. Both have their place.
